The Lyngblomsten Apartments in St. Paul, MN, is a 105-unit HUD-subsidized rental apartment building for people 62 years of age or older who have low incomes. We offer personalized living with involved management and staff that promotes the feeling of a caring family, all without the worries of maintaining a home.

HUD Subsidized Senior Rental Apartments

Lyngblomsten Apartments, Inc., operates under section 8/202 of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). This is a type of affordable housing designed for elderly low-income individuals. Rent subsidies are based on a resident’s adjusted gross income with rent being approximately 30% of the resident’s income. That amount is subject to change.

Information regarding income and assets is a part of the application process. Applications are assigned a waiting list number upon receipt by housing staff. Applications are considered in order as vacancies occur.

A full-time Service Coordinator on staff assists with finding resources and arranging extra services residents may need.

Weekly services include dairy delivery and mobile post office. Coffee and toast (mornings) and coffee and cookies (afternoons) are served in the dining room 3 days per week.

Includes: water, sewer, garbage, and heat. There is a monthly HUD utility allowance.

Licensed by the state of Minnesota, Lyngblomsten Home Health Services offers a wide array of services to residents in their apartments on campus when they need assistance to maintain living on their own.

Apartment Floor Plans

The Lyngblomsten Apartments features 99 one-bedroom units, with 7 of these being designed for mobility-impaired persons. There are also 6 two-bedroom units, with 1 two-bedroom unit designed for mobility-impaired persons.

Please note that HUD requires that two-bedroom units be rented by at least two people. (Married couples who want the unit must provide a physician’s statement reflecting a medical need.)
