Final approvals clear the way for Lyngblomsten at Lino Lakes
ST. PAUL, Minn. (October 11, 2021) — Lyngblomsten, a Minnesota senior services organization, will begin preparing its 20-acre site in mid-October 2021 for a senior living campus in Lino Lakes. This milestone marks the successful conclusion of a multi-year planning process involving input from a variety of stakeholders, multiple project revisions, and a delay due to the pandemic.
At its September 27, 2021, meeting, the Lyngblomsten Board of Directors gave final approval to move forward with the project, and a week later on October 5, financing closed. The $65 million project is being financed primarily through Choice Bank and secondarily by the Mission Investment Fund of the ELCA. (Lyngblomsten is a Christian nonprofit affiliated with the ELCA, or Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.)
“I’m so grateful for the many people involved in getting us to this point,” said Lyngblomsten President & CEO Jeff Heinecke. “From the Lyngblomsten Board of Directors and the Lino Lakes City Council, to the Mission Investment Fund of the ELCA and Choice Bank, to the great teams at Grand Real Estate Advisors, Wold Architects & Engineers, Weis Builders, and Dane Allen Homes—everyone is committed to the success of this project.”
Lyngblomsten’s campus in Lino Lakes will consist of 20 detached rental townhomes and a multi-level senior living building that will include 96 independent living apartments, 34 assisted living apartments, 17 memory care units, and an array of amenities. A second phase will add a skilled nursing wing.
Throughout the planning process, Lyngblomsten has sought input from the City of Lino Lakes and community members—leading to plan revisions and more feedback—to ensure the project aligns with the city’s vision for the future.
“The excitement from the community is encouraging and motivating,” Heinecke said. “We want everyone to be proud of what is built at the corner of Hodgson and County Road J in Lino Lakes. It’s a beautiful piece of land. We are thrilled to be joining the Lino Lakes community and expanding our mission to enhance the quality of life for older adults.”
This is a significant moment in history, as it is the first time in more than 100 years that Lyngblomsten is building a continuum-of-care campus beyond its St. Paul location.
Weis Builders, construction manager for the project, will begin preparing the site later this month. Construction of the townhomes (led by Dane Allen Homes) is anticipated to be completed starting April 2022 through August 2022, and the main building is scheduled to be finished approximately May 2023. A groundbreaking ceremony will be held later this fall.
