Share Your Time, Talents, and Interests to Enhance the Lives of Older Adults

We offer an array of volunteer roles seven days of the week at a variety of times. We know flexibility is important, so you choose how often you’d like to volunteer. We’ll work together to find the right fit for your schedule. We do ask, however, that volunteers give at least 40 hours a year.

Please watch the videos below for more information on volunteering with Lyngblomsten and to hear stories from fellow volunteers.

Types of Volunteer Opportunities

We rely on middle and high school students ages 13+, college students, working professionals, and those out of the work force to join us as volunteers in multiple positions and for multiple occasions. If you are looking for a community where you can learn and exercise new skills, participate in a service learning experience, provide leadership, or extend a friendly presence, you’ve found the right place with Lyngblomsten!

Find the right fit for team building volunteer opportunities with your school, work, church, or other group. For more information about how your group can get involved, please contact Shelli Beck, Director of Volunteer Services, at 651.632.5297 or sbeck@lyngblomsten.org.

The Process to Become a Volunteer Takes a Few Steps

  1. Complete a volunteer application.

You can either complete a volunteer application online or pick one up on campus: Como Park (1415 Almond Ave., St. Paul) or Lino Lakes (6070 Blanchard Blvd., Lino Lakes).

  2. Attend an orientation session.

After you submit your application, a Volunteer Coordinator from Volunteer Services will reach out to you and register you to attend a Volunteer Orientation Session. These sessions are held twice a month: once at our Como Park campus and once at our Lino Lakes campus. Also during this time you’ll set up a time to meet with one of our Volunteer Coordinators, so Lyngblomsten can learn more about your background and your hopes for volunteering, and you can ask questions and learn more about what volunteering is like.

  3. Complete a Minnesota Department of Human Services background check, initiated by Lyngblomsten.

The Minnesota Department of Human Services provides regulations for all who volunteer at a long-term care facility, as they are serving a vulnerable population. One of these regulations is that volunteers must complete a background check. Lyngblomsten initiates a background check when you are ready. Once it is initiated, there is a two-week window for you to go to a Minnesota Department of Human Services background study site to be fingerprinted and photographed. All costs associated with the background check are paid by Lyngblomsten.
