Renovation of the courtyard on Lyngblomsten’s Como Park campus is overdue. Over the years, almost all of the trees have reached their life expectancy and, one by one, have been removed. Sidewalks have crumbled, making some areas unsafe for walking, as well as difficult for navigating with a walker or wheelchair. Railings have rusted and have loosened. The current gazebo and pergola are unsightly and falling apart. Temporary fixes have been made, but it’s time for a long-term solution.
With your support of Grounds for Joy!, residents will have a “backyard” that’s a safe and beautiful space to enjoy the outdoors. New features such as an activity green, chess tables, and grilling station will increase the functionality. The addition of trees and wildflower gardens will attract birds and pollinators—making it not only environmentally friendly, but also a great place to sit in the shade and observe God’s beautiful little creatures!
Lyngblomsten’s commitment to lifelong learning and the arts for older adults gets special attention in this outdoor renovation. The addition of a pavilion will provide outdoor space for presentations, concerts, and opportunities for activities such as writing, drawing, and painting.
