Donation Types

Give in Honor
When you want to give a gift to someone who doesn’t need anything, or you want to honor someone for a special occasion, give a financial gift to the Lyngblomsten Foundation in his or her honor.

Give in Memory
The Lyngblomsten Remembrance Tree is a way to make a lasting commemoration for loved ones. Engraved leaves are available by making a gift or a compilation of remembrance gifts (such as funeral memorials) at the following levels:

  • Gold Leaf: $2,000 or more
  • Silver Leaf: $1,000 – $1,999
  • Bronze Leaf: $500 – $999

Donors and friends of Lyngblomsten can purchase leaves at the above levels. Remembrance gifts help support Lyngblomsten’s overall ministry.

For more information about making a tribute gift and to request a Remembrance Fund/leaf order form, please contact the Lyngblomsten Foundation office at 651.632.5358 or foundation@lyngblomsten.org.

Your gift of appreciated shares of stock given directly to the Lyngblomsten Foundation provides multiple benefits. Not only will your gift help to provide older adults with access to the opportunities, support and services they need, your gift of shares that you have held for a year or longer, will also provide a charitable tax deduction and allow you to avoid paying capital gains taxes.

By including the Lyngblomsten Foundation in your estate planning, you can help ensure that older adults and their caregivers will continue to have access to the vital support and care that they need to age well.

You can designate the Lyngblomsten Foundation as a beneficiary of your will, trust, retirement plan or life insurance policy. Many such planned gifts can offer significant tax savings. In addition, some arrangements, such as charitable gift annuities, can offer you more income in your retirement years while also leaving a legacy gift that will help future generations of older adults.

The Lyngblomsten Heritage Society recognizes those who have created estate plan gifts for Lyngblomsten.

We invite you to contact us at 651.632.5358 or foundation@lyngblomsten.org to allow us to acknowledge your generous intentions, to answer any questions you may have, or to discuss the benefits of various giving options.

Through a charitable grant program called Thrivent Choice®, eligible members of Thrivent Financial have the opportunity to recommend where some of Thrivent Financial’s charitable outreach funds go by directing Choice Dollars®. Lyngblomsten is a grateful recipient of these member-directed funds.

If you are an eligible Thrivent member, please consider Lyngblomsten when directing Choice Dollars.

To learn more about Thrivent Choice, visit thrivent.com/thriventchoice, or call Thrivent at 800.847.4836 and say “Thrivent Choice” when prompted.

We are fortunate to have many corporate employers in Minnesota who support the community engagement of their employees by matching their financial gifts or volunteer service. This benefit may also apply to retirees or spouses of employees. If you are a supporter of Lyngblomsten, we encourage you to check with your human resources department to see if they provide such support. A matching gift form from your company can be sent to foundation@lyngblomsten.org or mailed to:

More employers are offering payroll deductions for charitable giving. Contact your human resources department to determine if this is an option for you.

If you are a Lyngblomsten employee seeking to make a gift through payroll deductions, please contact our human resources department or the Lyngblomsten Foundation to complete a payroll deduction form.

Endowment Funds

Over our 100+ year history, Lyngblomsten has been fortunate to be the beneficiary of numerous planned gifts. Through their generosity, devoted and thoughtful supporters have provided the foundation for the development of numerous new program initiatives and capital improvements that have touched the lives of hundreds of older adults and their families.

As Lyngblomsten embarks on a new era of development, the following endowment funds have been established to provide ongoing resources to strengthen our ability to serve compassionately, effectively and responsively.

For 50 years the Lyngblomsten Auxiliary volunteered and raised over $1 million by hosting rummage sales, cookie sales, wrapping gifts at the holidays and running the Gift Shop (currently Anna’s). Today these dedicated individuals have retired, but our way of honoring them is to perpetuate their tradition of making funds available each year to pay for the non-budgeted extras – such as our aviaries, aquariums and outdoor furnishings – that enhance the lives of our older adults and their families.

Named after former CEO Paul Mikelson, who served from 1993 to 2013, this fund ensures that Lyngblomsten has an annual source of income dedicated to providing the initial investment funds needed to seize promising new opportunities for service or business development.

The quality of care we provide is related to the competency and commitment of our employees. Begun by Dr. Clarence and Mary Dennis, the Employee Scholarship Fund makes it possible for many of our direct care staff to advance their education and training. Not only does education strengthen the recipients’ skills, the employees and their families also benefit from the financial security that comes with higher earnings and career advancement.

Donor Recognition

Donors are recognized for cumulative giving and for making a legacy (planned) gift. The various recognition levels are described below. Recognition events are planned annually.

Gifts that provide transformational leadership helping us meet annual and long-range project and program goals requiring more significant resources.

Formerly the Century Club that originated during our Centennial celebration year, this fund has been appropriately re-named now that Lyngblomsten has moved into a second century of service.

Members of the President’s Club receive a special pin and recognition.

Hundreds of our friends commit to an annual gift in support of the overall needs of Lyngblomsten throughout the year.

Membership in the society comes by notifying us that you are either making a planned gift or have made plans for Lyngblomsten to receive a future planned gift by naming Lyngblomsten in your Will, as a beneficiary of an insurance policy, or by establishing a gift annuity or other instrument.
